A good war-date 1/6th plate ruby-red ambrotype of Sergeant Jeremiah C. Allen, Co. A, 10th New Hampshire Vols. standing with his bayonetted musket while wearing a regulation frock coat. Born in Loudon, New Hampshire, Allen enlisted in August 1862 and died of disease in July the following year while stationed in Virginia. Records show that his widow applied for a pension on July 15, 1863. The image is identified in contemporary pencil inside the case: "J. C. Allen, Louden, N. H. d. 1863." The image is housed in its original leatherette case. Overall near fine
