Meade of Morgan’s command ... states the entire force with which Morgan entered Indiana numbered only 2643 men. ... “Arrival of Gen. John Morgan ... the party arrived last night shortly after 10:00 o’clock .. guarded by .. Gen. Shackleford, the captor of Morgan.... not less than 500 surrounded the famous guerilla and his aides. ...lookers on seemed excited and cried ‘Hang the cut throats,...”
