Autograph Letter Signed by Charles B. Tanner, 2nd Lt. 1st Delaware Infantry, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions at Antietam, when he “Carried off the regimental colors, which had fallen within 20 yards of the enemy’s lines, the color guard of 9 men having all been killed or wounded; was himself wounded 3 times.” This letter, 1p. octavo, pencil, January 28, 1909, reads in part: “...I have requested Preston to temporarily return my resignation and enclosed the circular you sent me hoping he will send many dollars to the old soldier...” VG.
