Autograph Letter Signed by Uriah Brown, 30th Ohio Infantry, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions at Vicksburg, where “Despite the death of his captain at this side during the assault he continued carrying his log to the defense ditch. While he was laying his log in place he was shot down and thrown into the water. Unminful of his own wound he, despite the intense fire, dragged 5 of his comrades from the ditch, wherein they lay wounded, to a place of safety.” This letter 1p. octavo, pencil, January 30, 1909, reads in aprt: “...Sorry ...you returned the dollar when U was willing to deny my self of some necessities in order to try and help others...” VG.
