Very rare and original, 1862 CDV Photograph of “J. Wilkes Booth”, identified on the front mount, the assassin of President Abraham Lincoln, taken and published some years before the famous actor became the infamous assassin. Clipped corners, sharp focus, strong contrast. Taken in Boston sometime in 1862, by Silsbee, Case and Company, or Case and Getchell, this seated view of Booth, an image that the matinee idol enjoyed giving to his admirers. No imprint. Gutman #22. Very nice image with rich tones. Excellent!
