THE AMERICANIZATION OF EDWARD BOK (New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1922), 473pp., 4to, green boards with reinforced spine, number 89 of 1,500 special signed editions. Ladies' Home Journal publisher, Edward Bok, is best known for his progressive ideas that helped form the "American Dream" of the 20th century. The highly regarded Bok came to America as a penniless six year-old Dutch immigrant and praised the opportunities available to him as a youth. This book won him a Pulitzer Prize. Disturbingly, to modern eyes, there is a decorative swastika on the signature page. No doubt this would have mortified the author had he not died in 1930. Title plate missing from spine, else very good condition.
