Gen. Benjamin Harrison, 1865" in lower margin above publisher's information, A. M. Dudley, Salem, Mass, 1888. This card was likely circulated as a campaign item since Union veterans and their families constituted a powerful voting bloc during the postwar era. The future 23rd President is shown shortly after being promoted to a Brigadier General in the XXth Corps, Army of the Cumberland. No mere political officer, Harrison served in the Atlanta and Nashville campaigns under Sherman. Very scarce political item. VG.
