This is an original, Real-Photo Sepia Postcard Signed, with his familiar Pictograph Signature in black ink at bottom right, no date, 5-1/2” x 3-1/3,”VG. An absolutely gorgeous in cotrast and overall eye appeal, resonant real-photo postcard, one insignificant light crease at lower right corner barely detracting from this crisp image and nice for display. Two Guns White Calf (1872-1934) was a Blackfoot Indian Chief who claimed to be the model for the Buffalo Nickel after receiving one from a tourist in Glacier National Park. He spent the final twenty years of his life living off said fame becoming a fixture at the park. Historians now generally agree that there were actually three models that formed the composite for the nickel, none of which were Two Guns White Calf. Nonetheless, his visage has now become iconic in the American memory.
