Autograph Letter Signed by Stephen E. Chandler, 24th New York Cavalry, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his action at Amelia Springs, on April 5, 1865, when “Under severe fire of th enemy and of the troops in retreat, went between the lines to the assistance of a wounded and helpless comrade, and rescued him from death or capture.” This letter, 1p. quarto, February 9, 1909, in part: “...Enclosed find letter rec’d from Congressman Chas. L. Knapp. I may receive others in the near future, if so, will forward them to you...” VG.
