Typed Letter Signed by Oscar Burkard, Sgt. Hospital Corps, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the uprising of Chippewa Indians, on Lake Leech, northern Minnesota, October 5, 1898. The letter 1p. quarto, January 5, 1909, reads in part: “... I am heartily in favor of continuing the efforts for the passage of our annuity bill. When I received teh General Order announcing the new officers of the Legion for the coming year, I was very much dissappinted to see that you were not elected Commander...I am sorry that you should have been defeated for championing a cause which would be of such immense benefit to all the poorer companions...” VG.
