Typed Letter Signed by James M. Drake, 9th New Jersey Infantry, who at Bermuda Hundred was awarded the Medal of Honor when he “Commanded the skirmish line in the advance and held his position all day and during the night.” This letter is 1p. oblong folio, on Veteran Zouaves letterhead, with wonderful image of the Zouaves, August 7, 1910, and reads in part: “...As to the proposition of holding our annual reunion at Atlantic City...we would lose our identity, owing to the smallness of our numbers...I think it preferable to meet by ourselves...G.A.R. people, who stole our first badge, have never been disposed to look upon our organization with favor, and I am afraid they would regard our meeting at Atlantic City with disfavor...” Fine.
