A good ca. 1796 steel plate engraved map, on laid paper, entitled: "the State of Virginia from the best Authorities, 1796," published by John Reid, New York, measuring 18 3/4" x 15" (sight). The Northwestern Territory is clearly noted in the upper left corner of the map where Ohio would become a state in 1803, and, of course West Virginia would not breakaway from her mother state for another 67 years. Virginia's borders are nicely tinted green, yellow and red giving the map an appealing look. Professionally framed and ready for display! Not examined out of the frame. Near fine.
