Newspaper Grouping, 12 authentic 1852 issues of the Texas State Gazette, each weekly issue is 8pp., presented in three broad columns per page, disbound, a few scattered margin tears, two issues have ad clipped, else VG. These issues cover Texas legislative news, Southern states news and national news. With eight page issues, there is a great deal of reporting. We will simply advise of one report per issue. January 31st, San Antonio reports Indian Depradations; February 7th, Liquidation Payment of the Late Republic of Texas; February 14th, The First Fugitive Slave Case in Connecticut; February 21st, Letter From Hon. James Buchanan (regarding slavery); March 13th, From California (lengthy report on gold mining); March 20th, An Act to indemnify owners for the loss of Slaves executed for Capitol offences; March 27th, The Indians; May 1st; The Electoral Vote of the States; May 8th, The Comprimise; May15th; Corruption in Washington; May22nd, Murder and Lychinging; May 29th, Negroe Thieves Arrested. Additionally, each issue carries an advertisement for “First Choice Of Texas For President, GEN. SAM HOUSTON.” Also, 10 issues carry illustrated Runaway Slave Advertisement.
