Nicholson, 1856, 256pp., 8vo, embossed brown boards with gilt title on spine. The Commissioner sums up the government's overall stance on Indians when writing rapturously that the Menomonee of Wisconsin "…have made very gratifying advancement in improvement, and have shown a ready willingness to labor, and otherwise to conform to the habits and customs of the white race." Bumps to covers, internal foxing. Good condition.
