Partially printed war-date document, one page, 8" x 7", Richmond, Virginia, May 7, 1861, notes 46 boxes, weighing 16.067 lbs., received in "good order" from J. R. Anderson & Co., by the Richmond & Danville Railroad. These were forwarded to S. G. French, Jackson, Mississippi. Nothing overtly military is on this receipt, however the sender, Joseph Reid Anderson, was a Confederate brigadier in charge of the Confederacy's celebrated Tredegar Iron Works and the recipient was Samuel G. French, Mississippi's ordnance chief and future Army of Tennessee Major General. Fine condition.
