Another rare look into benevolence of Benjamin F. Butler who would go down in Southern history as a scourge to and thief of Southern citizenry. A rare booklet, entitled: "Northern Dispensary. Fifteenth Annual Report, 1842", in blue wrappers, 20pp. 8vo., printed Piercy & Reed, New York City, in which Butler is listed as counsellor on the board of trustees and as a subscribing member. The dispensary furnished medical advise and medicine to those of New York City who could not afford to pay for it. A summary of the dispensary's good works is in evidence by their willingness to help all persons (over 10,000) whether from England, Scotland, Ireland or other countries. A rare piece of Benjamin F. Butler related ephemera NEVER encountered in the marketplace. Near fine.
