"C," 39th Alabama Infantry, Chattanooga, Tennessee, July 17, 1863, one page with hand-carried address panel on the verso, 4to, to his mother, sisters and aunt, reading, in part: "…I have had the plesure of striking Hands with Brother A.M. he has just Came in from Montgomery…It would do you no good to tell you of our distresses & Troubles & Tryals…Nothing More at present…" Uneven right edge, some stains.
