December 14, 1861, Union Soldier's Letter from Bladenburg Tollgate, Washington, DC, Choice Very Fine. 11.5" x 8", over 3 pages, some internal splits and tears, mostly along fold lines. A well-written letter that discusses the area around Washington, DC. Also mentions reconnaissance balloons, the Capitol building, and the drowning of a soldier. Better-than-average content.
