F” , who was killed at Deep Bottom, 4p. octavo on patriotic stationary, Port Royal, Hilton Head, South Carolina, March 16, 1862, in part: “...on an Expedition...we saw Savannah Plain...Fort Jackson and Fort Pulaski...Our object was to take a battery on Elba Island...We could not be better pleased than to have one slap at those tarnation Critters...We live in hopes that Gen. Sherman will wake up soon for we think he has been asleep ever since he has been on the Island our boys say he is one of the seven Month Sleepers he has said he would put this regiment to the point of the Bayonet we hope he will either at Charleston or Savannah or else send...his men home the men think he a coward or else a Secessionist at heart..” with cover.
