Book in Two Volumes, “UNCLE TOM'S CABIN; Or, Life Among the Lowly.” 1852, Harriet Beecher Stowe, First Edition, later issue with Volume 1, Sixtieth thousand, and Volume 2, Seventieth thousand. some foxing through out both volumes but does not effect the text, original binding, spines present but somewhat loose. First published on March 20, 1852, the story focuses on the tale of Uncle Tom, a long-suffering black slave, the central character around whose life the other characters—both fellow slaves and slave owners—revolve. In the first year after it was published, 300, 000 copies of the book were sold.
