THE SLAVE IS NOBODY, HE IS LIKE A HORSE, Broadside “A DISCOURSE ON THE ATTITUDE ON MANY IN THE NORTH THAT SLAVERY IN THE SOUTH WAS NOT THE BLATANT EVIL PORTRAYED BY ABOLITIONISTS, THE NEW ENGLAND LOYAL PUBLICATION SOCIETY,” October 17th, 1863, #129, 1pp. 9-1/4x12”. This broadside refutes the notion that the evils of slavery is basically unfounded and gives examples of findings of Southern courts that demonstrate the evil effects of slavery. Commentary continues with the following titles: THE SLAVE IS NOBODY, HE IS LIKE A HORSE OR AN OX-HIS MASTER IS A DESPOT, THE SLAVE POWER EVER PREVENTS HIS MASTER TO BE KIND TO HIM, HIS MASTER MAY CHASTISE HIM AND EVEN SHOOT HIM WITHOUT PUNISHMENT, A SLAVE SEXUALLY MUTILATED FOR BEING LEWD AND VICIOUS. An excellent broadside contesting the accepting of slavery by many in the North. Very fine condition.
