A great circa 1866 military claims booklet, 14pp. 2 3/4" x 4 3/4", published by Tucker & Sellers Attorneys and Agents for Claims, Washington, D. C., entitled: "Acts Relating to Pension and other Claims. Passed at…39th Congress…". Ten separate acts updating the compensation of all soldiers, white and black, are enumerated throughout the booklet and include, in small part: "No. 1…Bounties payable to Soldiers, discharged for wounds…No. 2. Increase of Invalid Pensions…No. 5. Increasing the Pensions of Widows and Orphans…No. 8. Bounty to Colored Troops…that the omission in the muster rolls of the words 'free on or before April nineteenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-one,' shall not deprive any colored soldier of the bounty to which he is entitled…No. 10. Compensation to Loyal Owners of Slaves…payment to loyal persons claiming service or labor from colored volunteers, or drafted men…be made to any person…upon satisfactory proof that the claimant…maintained his of her adherence and allegiance to the Government of the United States…against the Government and forces of the so-called Confederate States of America…".
