c. 1875, Cabinet card photograph, entitled in pencil "UNCLE ISAAC & HIS YEARLINGS, AIKEN S.C.," This rare, original cabinet type Photographis of a powerful black man, in his rather tattered clothes, proudly standing with his cart and team of young oxen. Entitled in pencil, "UNCLE ISAAC & HIS YEARLINGS, AIKEN S.C." A reminder of the days of sharecropping and harsh "Jim Crow laws" of segregation. Upon a printed card mount of A.G. Grant, Thomasville, Georgia, and appears to part of a series of vintage views of the South, circa 1875. This impressive, classic image size measures 3.75" x 4" upon a 4" x 7" Cabinet Card mount, having excellent clarity and tone that is excellent for display. Fine condition.
