From the interior, a full page engraving, “A Sketch Showing A Riot At Detroit Michingan - An Attack On The Negro Houses in Beaubien Street.” The riot was the result of the rape of a white girl by a black man named Faulkner who was convicted. However, the girls who testified against Faulkner later admitted to lying and he went free a few years later. ... plus a second 1/2 page engraving, Drilling Negro Recruits For The First South Carolina Regiment In The Streets of Beaufort.”
