From the front page, “A Runaway” reports “Frederick Douglass, a fugitive slave, will speak on American Slavery at Talman Hall ... This Frederick is a runaway negro, the property of Governor Dudly ...” Then from the interior, “Frederick Douglass” in part, “the editor of the Raleigh Register has made a remarkable discovery, not only that Frederick is a runaway ...”
