Autograph Letter Signed, “Franklin Moore” 3p. octavo, pencil on patriotic lettersheet, Camp Hall, Virginia, May 3, 1862, in part: “...The Rebels are getting quite noisey they are throwing shell all around us but there has not been many killed as yet. Andrew Read was wounded yesterday by a piece of shell they were out on picket. Andrew was on duty and was laying down asleap at the time the shell bursted, a piece about as big as my hand struck a tree and ganced off and struck Andrew on the hip, he is not hurt very bad as the piece struck with the smooth side it may be a lucky thing for him for if he is smart he can make it last till after the fight at Yorktown which I think will be the last fight we shall see...” VG.
