Excellent content letter pertaining to the 1860 Presidential campaign written by Thomas H. Norwood, Nov. 1, 1860, Unv. of Virginia, 3pp., fine. Norwood begins the letter about how he wants to kill his roommate for not keeping quiet, and the writes "Well, Brekenridge was elected here, and I hope the states will follow the example of the Univ. of Va. But I grieve to say that the Virginia students had a majority of 5 in favour of Bell. Breckenridge received 245 votes; Bell 232; Douglas 26. You may see that all the students did not vote. I hope the Virginia fathers will not follow the unworthy example of their sons, for some of the best Democrats voted for Bell. But we will see, next Tuesday". He then continues with school and other content. Norwood would later join the 44th North Carolina Infantry, and was WIA at Cold Harbor. He surrendered at Appomattax Court House on April 9, 1865. A fine letter.
