War-date Confederate Document Signed by Captain James M. Harris, McIntosh County Guards, 1pp. quarto, April 19, 1861, Savannah Depot, and lists a shipment of arms sent by Capt. W.G. Gill, Ordnance Officer at Savannah. The shipment included eighty (80) rifles and eight (8) bullet moulds, among other equipment. Fine condition.Captain James M. Harris, served with the 26th Georgia Infantry, and died in September, 1861 at Camp Cogdell.Captain William G. Gill, served at the Savannah Depot until August, 1861 when he was appointed to command the Augusta Arsenal. On November 6, 1861, he was ordered to Beaufort, South Carolina for temporary duty with Robert E. Lee. Six months later he was promoted as Chief of Artillery, Army of the West, and given the rank of Lt. Colonl. He died on June 7, 1862, at Columbus, Mississippi.
