Autograph Letter Signed "Uncle Wash", 4 pages, quarto, January 23, 1862, Washington, D.C to Belle S. McCoy, Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Written by Surgeon Washington G. Nugent of the 96th Pennsylvania Infantry, this letter reads in part: "...We are about as interesting as ever, daily expecting the orders for a 'forward movement' which orders we have some reason to believe would have arrived although Gen McClellan did not send us word...". Enclosed are dried flowers. Complete with the original stamped cover. VF.
