War-date Confederate Document from Captain Fred Hailman of Hailman’s Company, Memphis, Tennessee Guerillas sent to General Gideon Pillow, November 14, 1861, and reads “Let me go in Kentucky to take a man in place of my brother-in-law Samuel Smith, also take Major Hailman...” Fine condition. The only Major Hailman that we were able to locate through research was William N. Hailman, Major in the Union 6th Kentucky Infantry. Was this a possible kidnapping for exchange?
