Lucius Davis, Graduate of the United States Military Academy, West Point; Formerly an Officer of the United States Army; and for Many Years Commander and Instructor of Volunteer Cavalry.” Published by A. Morris, Richmond, Virginia, 1861. 284pp. 32mo., with fly leaf bearing the signature of “John M. Gregory 1861.” P&W #4796. In period binding. Very good condition. John M. Gregory enlisted on May 27, 1861 as a 3rd lieutenant in the 9th Virginia Infantry. He was taken prisoner of war on the 3rd day of Gettysburg and died as a prisoner on Johnson’s Island.
