MAXEY, Samuel Bell (1825-1895) was an American soldier, lawyer, and politician from Paris, Texas, United States. He was a Major General for the Confederacy in the Civil War and later represented Texas in the U.S. Senate. Scarce war-date Autograph Endorsement Signed “Br. Hd. Qrs. Mar. 2, 1863. Approved. I would respy ask that a Special Order issue directing Capt. Atkins to receive & forward all supplies of clothing &c. due the Tenn. portion of my command. I call attention to within reply of Col. Quarles. S.B. Maxey.” Additionaly endoresed by Major D.A. Lynn of the 49th Tennessee. Mounted, else very good.
