War-date Confederate Manuscript Document Signed by Surgeon Joseph Jones, 1pp. folio, Confederate States of America, Surgeon General’s Office, War Department, Richmond, Virginia, August 6, 1864, being a true copy of an order penned by Surgeon General S.P. Moore, and reads in part: “...Surgeon Joseph Jones is directed to institute an extended investigation upon the causes, Pathology and treatment of Fevers and the relations of climate and soil to disease. Surgeon Joseph Jones will visit those parts of the Confederate States, and prosecute his investigations in those Cities, Armies and Regimental and general Hospitals which he may deem necessary as affording suitable fields for the establishment of the results indicated in this order. The results of these labors will be embodied in substantial volumes and deposited in the Surgeon General’s Office for the use of the Medical Department of the Confederate Army...” Fine condition.
