Autograph Letter Signed, "Joseph A. Alexander" 125th New York Infantry, died at Andersonville, 3p. octavo, on patriotic lettersheet, Camp Douglas, Chicago, November 21, 1862, in part: "…There is to be a lot of rebs exchanged from this camp in a few days probably four or five thousand if we can find that many that is willing to be exchanged. They don't seem to like the idea of going back to Dixie very well…" Good. Alexander was twice taken POW, Harper's Ferry and Mine Run. He died at Andersonville and is buried in grave #1755.
