A good war-date autograph letter signed by Brigadier General JOHN W. GEARY (1819-1873) who was the first mayor of San Francisco, governor of Kansas Territory, Union general and the 16th governor of Pennsylvania. The war-date letter is, 1p. 4" x 6", "Hd. Qrs. 2nd Div. 12th Army Corps. Camp near Fairfax Station, Va., Jan. 16, 1863," reading, in part: "I most cordially endorse…the foregoing letter of Genl. Greene and…request that Maj.
