REYNOLDS, John Fulton (1820-1863) Union general who was captured at Boatswain’s Swamp, Virginia, June 28, 1862, exchanged for Confederate general Lloyd Tilghman, and eventually shot and killed on the opening day of Gettysburg. DOUBLEDAY, Abner (1819-1893). Union general who fired the first shot against the Confederates at Fort Sumter, and led at Gettysburg, Chancellorsville, and Antietam. War-Date Autograph Endorsement Signed, “Respy forwd. for the consideration of Maj. Genl. Morgan. John F. Reynolds Brig. Genl. Vols. Comdg. McCall Div. Hd. Qrs. McCall Div. Fredericksburg, Va. June 3d, 1862.” Beneath a War-Date Endorsement Signed “Camp opposite Fredericksburg, Brigade Head Qrs. June 3d, 1862, Respectfully forwarded. A. Doubleday Brig. Genl. Vol. Commanding.” Both Autographs are Fine. Framed.
