Autograph Letter Signed, Charles Ewing, 4p. octavo, August 20, 1862, and reads in part: “...Everybody seems to be alarmed about the Draft...I want to see a few thousand of the Abolitionist go first. I have just recd the news of the death of my beloved Uncle John...The people of Westchester Co. are giving $200 bounty to Volunteers...But I don’t think they will be able to raise our Quota...McClellan has retreated to Yorktown...Burnside will supersede McClellan...” About VG.
