A good war-date Union soldier’s letter 3pp. 8vo., ink inscribed, on patriotic letter head, written by Pvt. James Rinebold, Co. I, 18th Penn. Cav. “Camp McClellan, Dec 1, 1862”, concerning his first weeks at the front, in part: “…I have not been to meeting but once…there will be [a] meeting…in the country about three miles from camp…our Regt is drawing there horses…2 or three more will draw theirs in a day or two…the militia are starting from camp Simmons today…”. Rinebold served faithfully throughout the war until he was captured during the Mine Run Campaign in late 1863. While a prisoner he died at Andersonville June 10, 1864. Very good
