A good war-date CDV of Stephen Elliott (1806-1866) first bishop of Georgia and provisional bishop of Florida. He became the first and only Bishop of the Confederate States of America and gave a moving funeral oration at the funeral of Confederate General Leonidas Polk during the Atlanta campaign. Photographer's imprint of J. F. Cooley, Savannah, Georgia appears on the verso. Overall VG to near fine.
