Great six-part auction of the “Belmont Perry Collection” held in May, 1899, by Stan V. Henkels, includes six pamphlets featuring hundreds of lots each, divided into the following catagories: “Collection of Autograph Letters of Confederate Generals”, “Collection of Autograph Letters of Union Generals,” “Collection of Autograph Letters of Union and Confederate Statesmen,” “Collection of Letters of and to Gen’l Washington and Family, Letters of Generals in the Revolution, Signers of the Declaration, Members of Old Congress, Presidents of the United States, Crowned heads, Authors, Poets, and Statesmen,” “The Bancker Papers ...Stuart’s Portrait of Washington, Sully’s Portrait of Tyler, Jarvis’ Portrait of W.H. Crawford, Peale’s Portrait of Postmaster Habersham and a Collection of Rare Engraved Portraits, American Views, etc.,”and the “Estate of Mrs. Dolley P. Madison wife of President James Madison.” All with nice introduction to the collection by Henkels and featuring some absolutely unbelievable items. Very good condition.
