Manuscript Copy of the words to Little Topsy’s Song by Asa Hutchinson, which was written in 1853 and performed by the Hutchinson family across the Union. The lyrics refer to Uncle Tom’s Cabin and read in most part: “… Oh! In the child that nebber wass born/ Nebber had a mudder/Spect I grew a nigger born/Just like any odder/ They whipped me ‘till the blood pours down,/Ole missus used to do it/Said she’d cut my heart right out/But nebber could get to it…” More. One stanza has been rearranged with alternative lyrics, written in pencil. Fine. Rare.
