A good war-date Florida Civil War document being a field printed version of General Orders, No. 20, 1 1/2pp. 8vo., "Headquarters, District of Florida, Fourth Separate Brigade D. S., Jacksonville, Fla., May 21, 1865," reading, in part: "…before a military commission, which convened at Jacksonville, Fla…were arraigned and tried:- 1. Wallace Hunter, (colored civilian.) Charge-Theft…did steal and assist in taking from the store of Wm. C. Morrill, goods valued at about $200.00…knowing the goods to be stolen…at Fernandina…in the night time on or about the 25th of March, 1865…of the charge 'guilty'…to be confined at hard labor for one year…2d. Fortune Hill, (colored civilian) charge-Theft…did steal and assist in taking from the store of Wm. C. Morrill, goods valued at about $200.00…knowing the goods to be stolen…at Fernandina…in the night time on or about the 25th of March, 1865…of the charge 'guilty'…to be confined at hard labor for one year…the prisoners will be confined at Fort Marion, St. Augustine, Fla…by order of Brig. Gen. I. Vodges…". Issued and signed in type by Capt. S. L. McHenry. From the headquarters files of Col. William H. Noble 17th Conn. Vols. who were stationed at Jacksonville from late February through the middle of April 1864 and were stationed at St. Augustine after that to the end of the war. Overall VG .
