Partially printed Document Signed "L. H. Carpenter," 2pp., quarto, Fort Sill, Indian Territory, June 26, 1872. This final pay statement is for Private John Brown, Co. "H," 10th Cavalry, a young black waiter from Tennessee. Brown's captain was Louis Henry Carpenter, a career soldier and Civil War veteran who was awarded the Medal of Honor for bravery during the Indian Wars. An exceptional document from a famous regiment. Fine condition.
