A complete and authenticate issue of the New York Daily Tribune, June 18, 1857, 8pp., disbound, VG. From an interior page, “Arrest of Fugitive Slaves” runs 10” and reports the capture of male and female fugitive slaves. “Two slaves belonging to CF Withers made their escape Saturday .. Elliot knocked out one of the panals of the door when the negro man madea plunge at him with a dirk cane, inflicting a wound just below the third rib ... Withers then fired at the negro, the ball taking effect just below the breast bone ...”
