Manuscript Document Signed, 1-1/4p. quarto, Head Quarters Artillery 2d Corps, March 19, 1863, signed by H.P. Jones, Major Comanding Artillery Battalion, being an official copy of General Orders No. 2 issued to Capt. Thompson Commadnign La. Gd. Arty, it reads in part: “...The instructions heretofore issued to the Commanding Officers of Battalions respecting the care of their horses in camp, are intended to apply equally on marches & during all active operations in the field...They will make it heir first case under all contingencies to promote the effeicinecy of their horses, by seeing that they service all possible care and attention in every respect...ON the march Commanding officers of Battalion will see that no Article whatever, except the equipments appropriate to each are carried on the horses or on the gun carriages...” Fine.
