A good war-date Confederate military manuscript circular, 1p. oblong 4to., issued from the "Head Quarters Army of Tenn., Tullahoma, [Tenn.], April 16, 1863, reading, in part: "Information has reached these Head Quarters that the Exchanged Prisoners who have been arriving at this place…have recently been exposed to small pox. At the time they were forwarded from Chattanooga it was not known they had been thus exposed. The General Comdg trusts that every effort will be used to prevent the occurrence of this loathsome disease among our troops…he calls upon the surgeons of the Regiments to which these men have been sent to immediately cause them to be vaccinated…by command of General Bragg…". Scribed, signed and made official by Major John Ingram as AAG on the staff of Brig. Gen. Benjamin Cheatham for Brig. Gen. Preston Smith brigade. Rouge margins with some toning, period binding hinge effects the verso, with expected wear, else VG.
