Autograph Letter Signed, “Alfred Chapman” Distribution Officer War Department, 1p. large quarto, on Confederate States of America, War Department letterhead, Richmond, Virginia, September 23, 1864, with War Department cover addressed to General McGowen, pertaining to the issuance of an estimate of “the fuel consumed by your Brigade upon the lands of R. H. Houseworth” and requests McGowen to endorse the estimate and reply to the War Department. Includes a copy of the estimate which states that McGowen’s Brigade consumed “fourteen hundred cords” of wood. All items VG. (3 items)
