Group of 2nd Vermont Infantry letters by Rinaldo Hood, includes: Autograph Letter Signed, Rinaldo Hood, 2nd Vermont Infantry, WIA Spotsylvania C.H., 3-1/4p. octavo, March 10, 1863, with cover addressed to his sister in NYC, it reads in part: “...I am so glad Cousin Joe has got home for he never was strong enough to be a soldier in my opinion. I saw him but twice and really pitied him for he seemed to be all alone...We left Camp Griffin...some think the Army will move i na few days...” VG....plus; ALS, Rinaldo Hood, 2-1/2p. octavo, February 25, 1863, with cover addressed to his sister and includes clipped newspaper poem “The Solider’s Mother”, the letter reads in part: “...I cannot here from anywhere without hearing of some one being sick or dead and almost always both...” More famiy news. VG....plus; ALS, by Rinaldo Hood, 4p. octavo, March 24, 1864, with cover, in part: “...fifteen of our company started for teh Sixth Pa Regt. which is some more thana half mile from here, in sight of our camp, we commenced snow balling them and in a few minutes their Major came out with a number other officers and drove us back, that did not suit our Major very well so he mounted his horse and rallied all the men h could and come to our rescue.
