War-date Union soldier's letter, 2pp. 8vo., written by Pvt. Ephraim W. Frost [POW Winchester, Va., 6/13/63; WIA Piedmont, Va., 6/05/64 & DOD 1/15/65], Co. I, 116th Ohio Vols., [n. p., but near Wheeling, (West) Virginia] Nov. 25, [1862], in part: "…I stayed at a farm house for a while. The lady of the house was a nice woman…they took the best kind of care of me as long as I stayed there…Burnside is a pushing onto Richmond…they are building fortifications at New Creek Station…we are under General Milroy…the Wheeling paper says that Burnsides is between Jackson and Richmond…they say Richmond is one entire hospital…the secesh has got the small pox…".
