C, 3rd Ohio Vols., Kelley's Ferry, Tenn., Dec. 25, 1863, in part: "…I wonder who will be our candidate for the next presidency. I sincerely hope that the convention will make the choice of Ben F. Butler. I have a vast amount of confidence in that man and am confident he would make a good president. If they want my vote they must nominate him…". VG.
